Garanti Bank and Turkcell have teamed up with MasterCard to launch a prepaid card called Cep-T Paracard on 1st of June in Turkey to tap into the country's significant unbanked population. Cep-T Paracard combines mobile and banking services enabling Turkcell customers to benefit from financial services offered by Garanti Bank without having to be a customer of the bank.

Cep-T Paracard is a SIM based secure service that can be used with any mobile handset device. It will be offered to Turkcell's customers at Turkcell's 1,200 Communication Centers (TIMs). To use, customers simply pre-load money to the card via Garanti POS machines at TIMs, or at any Garanti Bank ATM. Customers can then use the pre-loaded card to shop at any store that accepts MasterCard, collect bonus points, load minutes onto their mobile phone using the preset menu on their phones and even transfer money. Customers can also earn free minutes and redeem purchases against bonus points collected.

What is Cep-T Paracard?

Cep-T Paracard is a prepaid card launched by Garanti Bank and that contains no name on it and works via Cep-T Para platform. Turkcell customers can make benefit of this service by purchasing a Cep-T Paracard even though they aren't customer of any bank. Cep-T Paracards can be purchased easily in exchange of 5 TL from any Turkcell Communication Centers (TIMs) and the customer can load money to the card via TIMs or any Garanti ATM and use it in any shopping centers that accept MasterCard. After a short registration operation, the users can transfer money in seconds to any Cep-T Paracard or Bonus and Shop&Miles credit cards with MasterCard logos, or to whichever mobile phone number regardless their operator at any day and at any time. Turkcell users also can send money and/or load money to anyone who doesn't have a bank account regardless the their cell phone operator and without having go to any bank or even without having to know a bank account number. Recipients can have their money instantly by withdrawing it from any Garanti Paramatik ATM. Any Garanti Bank customer can register in the system by their MasterCard branded Bonus, Shop&Miles, or Paracard and they can change the card with the one that carry their names on it if they want to make a constant benefit of this service.
