Bonus Card in Romania
Bonus Card has started its operation in Romania in 2007 with the card types of Bonus Classic, Bonus Gold and Bonus Platinum.
GarantiBank is the pioneer in Romania who brought first contactless technology by issuing MasterCard PayPass credit cards in 2008. Later on, in March 2009, Garanti Bank launched its mirror card for the ladies, the first credit card on the Romanian banking market having a mirror, as accessory.
In 2010, Bonus Card had very great success. The card had the award of "the best sold credit card" and "the most active bank in the Romanian cards market" as reaching 112,000 and bringing on the market 2 more new innovative products: WWF Bonus Card, created in partnership with WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) for all the people that want to give nature a hand, and Băneasa Bonus Card, with special benefits in Bucharest most popular shopping center Baneasa Shopping City.
GarantiBank currently has 110.000 debit cards which has the benefit of accumulating Bonus at all Bonus Card merchant network too.
At present, Bonus Card exceeded already more than 120,000 credit cards, and aims to continue its success by attracting new clients with the most innovative and flexible features, and serving all existing clients in a best-way approach.

Bonus Card awards in Romania:
- 2008: NO CASH organization awarded Garanti Bank Romania with the prize "Premiera Anului" for Bonus Card product - first multi branded EMV chip credit card program.
- 2008: Piata Financiara newspaper awarded Garanti Bank Romania the "Best Banking Product" rewards for the Bonus Contactless Card, the first contactless payment device on the Romanian banking market, equipped with MasterCard PayPass technology.
- 2009: Garanti Bank was awarded within e-Finance Awards Ceremony, e-Cards category, for the excellent evolution of Bonus Card
- 2010: Bonus Card was awarded "The best sold credit card in 2009" within No-Cash Awards Ceremony
- 2010: Garanti Bank was awarded as "The most active Bank in the Romanian cards market" for the outstanding evolution of the cards business in the first half of 2010. This award was granted based on a comprehensive analysis conducted by e-Finance magazine on the evolution of credit and debit cards portfolio as well as the transactions performed with them.
