Nilson Report: "Garanti Bank ranked number 7 in Europe in credit cards"
The Nilson Report, an important news source through its researches for 40 years in the whole world in payment systems, published its list containing the top 50 banks offering credit cards in Europe. In the list created according to the "shopping turnover", which is the most important criterion for size in the credit cards sector, Garanti Bank ranked number 7 with its turnover size of 28 billion and 65 million US Dollars. Leaving the world giants behind as well as Turkish banks, Garanti was in front of the Turkish banks again in the ranking according to the card number in the same list.
"We'll be at top 5 soon..".
Garanti Payment Systems CEO Mehmet Sezgin said "There are different rankings when it comes to credit cards. To us the most important criteria is how much your products are used. And that's the purchase volume. It is good to be in the top ten, however looking at Turkey's population trends, We can easily see ourselves in the top 5. Yet for us the real challenge is to move toward a real cashless society at the centennial of our country's formation in 2023. To achieve this we need not only credit cards but, much more debit and prepaid usage along with contactless technologies and NFC. Garanti will continue to be at the forerunner in introducing these new products and services."
